Yoga Beings

Yoga Beings has been developed for children aged 4 to 11 years old and can be used both inside and outside a school setting. Through story-telling, play and fantasy your child will learn traditional yoga postures, sequences, breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques. According to feedback gathered from parents and children you will begin to see your child using yoga as part of their play repertoire.

In a school setting I have used Yoga Beings as part of Healthy Schools Week, delivering Literacy programmes, Citizenship, History, Creative Writing, P.E. and raising Cultural Awareness. As you can see Yoga Beings can be used in a wide variety of settings and I am more than happy to work in partnership with Head Teachers, Teachers and schools generally to implement yoga within schools in a fun and interactive way.

Recently there has been a lot of press about the benefits of yoga for children. Please email me if you would like further info about this research. Briefly however, yoga appears to:

• Improve emotional and social skills;
• Increase ability to identify body parts and their location;
• Improve co-ordination and balance;
• Improve concentration and calmness;
• Increase flexibility and
• Improve general health.

Saturday Morning Kids Yoga

Saturday mornings 10:00am to 11:30am at The Light Room, Hagglers Corner, 586 Queens Road, S2 4DU

What to bring? Please bring a healthy snack and a bottle of water. Your child can also bring a toy but it is important to note that they cannot use the toy during the class if it disrupts their practice or other children’s practice. If this is the case I will take it off them until the yogic nap.

What to wear? Your child should wear clothing that does not inhibit movement and that covers them appropriately for when they are doing inverted postures. Ideally they should avoid wearing tights.
