“What can I say! 3 generations of our family have benefitted tremendously from the strength, flexibility, calm and relaxation that Jo has brought to our busy lives. A ray of sunshine and tranquillity in our hectic weeks. Fantastic!” Jackie 65 (retired), Debbie 41 (School Teacher), Isaac 10 (school student).
“This year has been very busy as all three young adults have been at home and it’s been frenetic. Yoga has really helped on a Sunday night as a focus of peace in the week away from all of that. It has also been so good to be calm during the first year of my dad’s death and mother in law after a long illness in march. I am so glad that my friend saw your advert for classes all those years ago as it really has been a very positive aspect of my life to hold on to ...thank-you! You are a very special person with a real gift for this work with the support of course from Ben.” K.B.
“Sunday nights are a bit like my pause, between the chaos and hectic parts of the last week and the breakneck pace of the next. A chance to step off the "must do" "need to do" "have to do" of normality and into a gap where I can draw breath, and though often hard physical work, it is a mental space. I really look forward to it (so do my family!) and I float back home as a much calmer and more centred person. It is one of the few "me" bits of the week, that does not involve doing things for someone else. There is also the physical side; I enjoy being able to notice that things are easier as time goes past, and to feel tight knots unwind and muscles stretch out and relax. Sometimes I arrive absolutely shattered and feel I am too tired to do anything, I push myself to join in and by the end I leave mentally refreshed and physically at peace!” Sophie
"Jo's class is what got me into yoga. I had tried another class while at uni and thought yoga was just slow and boring. Jo's class took me to such a place of harmony and relaxation, I couldn't possibly find it boring. Instead, it was inspiring! I now practice about 30 minutes each day at home, and recently went on retreat. I am very grateful to Jo for bringing this into my life. Practicing yoga has greatly helped both my mental and physical health. I am fitter now than I have ever been my whole life. My breathing has improved, my posture has improved, and my diet has improved, all thanks to yoga I believe. Thank you Jo!" Kat, 26, office/charity worker.
“Jo's classes are excellent. Each session includes a balance of different yoga positions so by the end I feel that every muscle and ligament has been gently and safely stretched. With warmth, encouragement and humour Jo expertly adjusts the pace and structure of the classes to suit the needs and strengths of the participants. Most important for me is that after two years of regular yoga classes with Jo the I no longer have the back problem I'd experienced for years.” C.B, 56.
“I have been to several of Jo’s yoga classes and workshops. I am blind (I have no sight) and I have found that Jo has made the yoga very helpful and inclusive for me as a blind person. During the sessions she adapts the learning methods to suit my needs, such as making sure I am near the front of the room, and physically coming to show me the correct position if I need some extra guidance in addition to verbal description. Jo is also very proactive before and after sessions in checking my needs with me, and doing things such as giving me hand-outs in advance so I can read them electronically or have them brailled.” Jane Emerson
“After being recommended yoga by a doctor to relax, I've been attending Yoga Nature classes on and off for five years. I've told many of my friends that it's a fantastic class. At least two have joined the classes and reported back that they thought they were excellent! Jo is a warm, empathetic person and she seems to instinctively know how individuals and the whole class feel, so every class is exactly what I need. All the movements are well guided and Jo supports you all the way through, explaining how to use the moves and what you gain from doing them. After hearing that Jo also runs classes for children, and for people with learning disabilities, I'm even more in awe of her unique teaching ability and welcoming approach.” L.S.
“Jo and her yoga style are absolutely brilliant. Jo has the most calming voice and inspirational spirit, that even without yoga, you would come away feeling happy and content. Jo’s teaching style is inclusive, and is suitable for all ages and abilities. It would be very difficult to feel left behind, as the classes are perfectly paced. Classes with Jo are brilliant for the body and the mind. It doesn’t matter how busy or stressed you are in your personal / work life; after a yoga class with Jo, you come away feeling calm and fantastic, ready to take on whatever life has to offer. I would recommend Yoga Nature to everyone - from yoga curious beginners to those with years of experience.” Georgina, Marketing Officer
“I started yoga about 1 year ago, joining Jo's Yoga Nature class on a Sunday night. I was quite nervous about this, having always been very inflexible, and I didn't know what to expect. Those fears were soon dispelled, and I have thoroughly enjoyed these classes for the last year. Jo has an infectious enthusiasm for her yoga. I like the fact that the classes work for people of all ages and levels of fitness, and meet people's differing needs and expectations. The yoga which we do is quite dynamic and allows me to challenge myself, which is what I want out of it. However, Jo is very clear that we should only do what our bodies want us to, and no one is pushed harder than they should be or than they want to be. Jo is an excellent Yoga teacher. The classes are busy, but she has a great skill at teaching the class at an individual level. She will observe how we are all doing, and come and give the necessary advice in a very constructive and helpful way, which has allowed me to learn a lot and to improve my yoga throughout the year. The classes are a really great experience, and are also great fun. We are encouraged to relax our faces and smile when doing some of the harder postures!! I really look forward to the classes and am always sad if I have to miss one. Attending these classes has helped me see yoga as a lifestyle. It has real holistic benefits, and clears and relaxes my mind as well as helping me physically. Yoga Nature also offers other great experiences – eg. yoga walks in the Peak District, which are great (despite the weather!). Our children now also attend Yoga Beings, and they absolutely love Jo and look forward to their Saturday morning classes. Since I started these classes, I have recommended Jo's classes to friends. They have attended and been equally enthusiastic about it. In summary I can give nothing but the highest praise and commendation to Jo and her Yoga Nature classes”. Mark, Accountant.
