The Heart of Shiva
A Weekend of Kirtan & Yoga Featuring Nikki Slade
Kirtan: Saturday 3 March 2018, Our House, 6pm to 9pm
Workshop: Sunday 4 March 2018, Sharrow Performing Arts Space, 10am to 4pm
The Heart, says Abhinavagupta, is the very Self of Siva, of Bhairava, and of the Devi, the Goddess who is inseparable from Siva. Indeed, the Heart is the site of their union (yamala), of their embrace (samghatta) and it is the abode of pure consciousness (caitanya) as well as unlimited bliss (ananda).
In this weekend of heart-centred practices we will explore experientially this symbology of the Heart in the Tantric philosophies of Kashmir Shaivism. Enjoy an evening of Kirtan (chanting) followed by a full day workshop weaving together sound work, flowing yoga, poetry and meditation.
We will be joined for the weekend by Nikki Slade. Nikki is a leading pioneer in the field of chanting, core voice and sound work in the UK. She is the resident Kirtan leader at Triyoga in London and has recorded four highly popular chanting albums, including her latest double album Epiphany. www.nikkislade.com
