Yoga Beings
Soulful Yoga for Children & Teens in Sheffield Schools

Founded by Jo, an experienced and much-loved children’s yoga teacher, Yoga Beings has become a trusted part of many Sheffield schools, from breakfast clubs and after-school sessions to classroom-based yoga woven through the curriculum. Some schools have welcomed Jo back every year for nearly two decades.
What is Yoga Beings?
Yoga Beings is more than just yoga for children, it’s a safe and creative space for self-awareness, emotional expression, and mindful movement. Each session is rooted in warmth and wonder, using:
📖 Storytelling & Imagination
🎵 Music, Songs & Rhythm
🌈 Playful Movement & Partner Games
🎭 Mindful Expression Through Breath & Body
Without ever using the word “therapy” Yoga Beings offers a therapeutic space, where children of all backgrounds (including SEN, ESL, or those experiencing stress or anxiety) can feel seen, soothed, and supported.
There’s no competition, no pressure to perform, only gentle encouragement to explore, feel, and move in a way that feels right for them.
Since 2006, Yoga Beings has quietly woven its way through classrooms and corridors, bringing breath, balance, and belonging to children and teens across Sheffield.
For Every Stage of Growth 🌱
From curious tots, to energetic juniors, to thoughtful teens, Yoga Beings meets young people where they are, with age-appropriate practices that evolve with them.
It’s a programme designed to grow alongside the child, nurturing resilience, regulation, and a deeper connection to themselves.
Hear From the Children & Educators 🌼
Watch the short video to hear what the children say about Yoga Beings, and listen to reflections from the Deputy Head of Sharrow School and the Director of Children’s House Montessori. Their words speak to the lasting impact that yoga brings to school life.
